Introduction
The CC2640R2L is a 2.4GHz wireless MCU supporting Bluetooth 5.1 low power and proprietary 2.4GHz applications. It is optimized for low-power wireless communication and advanced sensing in medical, asset tracking, personal electronics, retail automation, building automation markets, and applications requiring industrial performance. Key features include: • Bluetooth 5.1 support: LE Coded PHY (long range), LE 2Mb PHY (high speed), advertising extensions, multiple advertising sets, and backward compatibility with Bluetooth 5.0 and earlier low-energy specifications. A fully qualified Bluetooth 5.1 software stack included with the SimpleLink CC2640R2 SDK, for application development on the powerful Arm Cortex-M3 processor. • Flash-based architecture with a crypto accelerator supporting both on-chip and off-chip OAD. A software-controlled dedicated radio controller (Arm Cortex-M0) provides flexible low-power RF transceiver functionality supporting multiple PHYs and RF standards. Excellent radio sensitivity and robustness (selectivity and blocking) performance for Bluetooth Low Energy (−97dBm at 1Mbps PHY).
The CC2640R2L is part of the SimpleLink MCU platform, which includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, Thread, ZigBee, Sub-1GHz MCU, and host MCU devices — all sharing a common, easy-to-use development environment with a single-core SDK and a rich toolset. With the one-time integration of the SimpleLink platform, any combination of devices from the product portfolio can be added to your design, enabling 100% code reuse as design requirements change.
