Introduction
BTS3104SDR is a single-channel low-side MOSFET power switch in a PG-TO252-3-11 package with embedded protection features. The device integrates an N-channel vertical power FET with embedded protection functions on a single monolithic chip. BTS3104SDR is qualified for automotive applications and suitable for 12V and 24V automotive and industrial use. The device can switch resistive, inductive, and capacitive loads, subject to EAS and maximum current capability limitations. It provides ESD protection at the IN pin against the source pin (ground). Overtemperature protection prevents the device from overheating due to overload and/or poor thermal conditions, with a temperature sensor embedded in the power MOSFET providing thermal information. During thermal shutdown, the device sinks increased input current at the IN pin to indicate a fault condition. BTS3104SDR features thermal restart: when the measured temperature drops below the thermal hysteresis temperature and the input remains high, the device will turn on again. Overvoltage protection activates under load dump or inductive turn-off conditions, clamping the drain-source voltage when VDS exceeds VDS(clamp).
