Introduction
The HC239 circuit is designed for high-performance memory decoding or data routing applications requiring very short propagation delay times. In high-performance memory systems, this decoder can be used to minimize the impact of system decoding. When used with high-speed memory featuring fast enable circuits, the decoder's propagation delay and the memory's enable time are typically less than the memory's typical access time. This means the effective system delay introduced by the decoder is negligible. The HC239 consists of two independent 2-line-to-4-line decoders in a single package. The active-low enable inputs can be used as data lines in demultiplexing applications. These decoders/demultiplexers feature fully buffered inputs, with each input representing only one normalized load to its driving circuit. The SN54HC239 is designed for the full operating temperature range of -55°C to 125°C, while the SN74HC239 is designed for the operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
