Introduction
The MAX6501–MAX6504 are low-cost, fully integrated temperature switches that assert a logic signal when the die temperature exceeds a factory-preset threshold. These devices operate from +2.7V to +5.5V and feature two on-chip temperature-dependent voltage references and a comparator. They offer factory-trimmed temperature trip thresholds from -45°C to +125°C in 10°C increments, with accuracy of ±0.5°C (typical) or ±6°C (maximum). No external components are required, and supply current is typically 30µA. Hysteresis is pin-selectable at +2°C or +10°C.
The MAX6501/MAX6503 feature active-low, open-drain outputs designed to interface with µP reset inputs. The MAX6502/MAX6504 feature active-high, push-pull outputs designed to directly drive fan control logic. The MAX6501/MAX6502 offer high-temperature thresholds (+35°C to +125°C), tripping when temperature rises above the threshold. The MAX6503/MAX6504 offer low-temperature thresholds (-45°C to +15°C), tripping when temperature falls below the threshold.
The MAX6501–MAX6504 are available in eight standard temperature versions; contact the factory for pricing and availability of non-standard temperature versions. They are offered in 5-pin SOT23 and 7-pin TO-220 packages.
