Introduction
The TPS6291x devices are a family of high-efficiency, low-noise, and low-ripple current-mode synchronous buck converters. These devices are ideal for noise-sensitive applications that typically use an LDO for post-regulation, such as high-speed ADCs, clocks and jitter cleaners, serializers, deserializers, and radar applications. The devices operate at a fixed switching frequency of 2.2MHz or 1MHz, and can synchronize to an external clock. To further reduce output voltage ripple, the devices integrate loop compensation designed to work with an optional second-stage ferrite bead L-C filter, reducing output voltage ripple to below 10µVRMS. Low-frequency noise levels approaching those of low-noise LDOs can be achieved by filtering the internal voltage reference with a capacitor connected to the NR/SS pin. An optional spread-spectrum modulation scheme spreads the DC/DC switching frequency over a wider range, thereby reducing mixed-signal spurs.
