Introduction
The PLED unidirectional series (PLEDxUx series) open LED protector provides a switched electronic bypass path for individually open-circuit failed LEDs. This ensures that even if a single LED in the string fails open, the remaining LEDs in the string will continue to operate. It also provides reverse battery or reverse supply polarity protection. PLED unidirectional series devices are designed to improve the reliability of outdoor LED lighting applications such as street lights, outdoor signage, aircraft runway lighting, roadside warning lights, and similar applications. PLED unidirectional series devices are compatible with 1W, 2W, and 3W LEDs with a nominal forward voltage of 3V, and are available in two SMT packages: DO-214AA and QFN. The thin CSP of the QFN is ideal for high-density PCB applications.
