Descrizione
The TPS65917-Q1 PMIC integrates five configurable buck converters with up to 3.5A output current to power processor cores, memory, I/O, and pre-regulation circuits via LDOs. The device is AEC-Q100 qualified. The buck converters are synchronized to a 2.2MHz internal clock to enhance device EMC performance. The GPIO_3 pin allows the buck converters to synchronize with an external clock, enabling multiple devices to synchronize to the same clock for improved system-level EMC performance. The device also includes five LDOs for powering low-current or low-noise domains.
The power sequencing controller uses one-time programmable (OTP) memory to control the power sequence, along with default configurations such as output voltage and GPIO settings. The OTP is factory-programmed, enabling startup without software. Most default static settings can be modified via SPI or I2C to configure the device for a variety of system requirements. For example, voltage adjustment registers support the processor's dynamic voltage scaling requirements. As an additional safety feature, the OTP includes bit integrity error detection that halts the power-up sequence upon error detection, preventing the system from starting in an unknown state.
The TPS65917-Q1 device also features an ADC for monitoring system status. The GPADC includes two external channels for monitoring all external voltages, plus multiple internal channels for measuring supply voltages, output currents, and die temperature, allowing the processor to monitor system health. The device provides a watchdog to monitor software lockup conditions and offers protection and diagnostic mechanisms such as short-circuit protection, thermal monitoring, shutdown, and automatic ADC conversions to detect voltages falling below predefined thresholds. The PMIC can report these events to the processor via an interrupt handler, enabling the processor to take appropriate responsive action.
