Introduction
ME4084 is a 24V-rated single-cell lithium-ion battery CC/CV charge management IC with a maximum charge current of 600mA (SOT23-5, SOT23-6, FBP22-6L), 800mA (DFN22-8L, DFN3*3-8L), and 1A (ESOP8). Since linear chargers generate significant heat under large input-to-output voltage differentials, an internal thermal feedback circuit monitors chip temperature during charging and reduces the charge current to a lower level to meet the system's thermal dissipation requirements. With minimal external components, it is an ideal solution for portable applications.
ME4084 requires no current sense resistor and no external blocking diode for reverse current protection. The charge termination voltage is fixed at 4.2V/4.34V, and the charge current is adjustable via an external resistor. ME4084 terminates charging when the charge current drops to 1/10 of the constant-current value.
When the input voltage (adapter or USB) is removed, ME4084 enters sleep mode. The internal charge path is automatically disabled and the input voltage drops. In this state, the battery leakage current falls below 2uA. When ME4084 is powered but the battery is removed, the chip current is reduced to 100uA to minimize system power consumption.
ME4084 also features battery temperature detection, input undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, and two charge status indicator pins.
