Introduction
The LM22673 switching regulator uses a minimal number of external components to provide all the functions needed to implement a high-efficiency, high-voltage step-down regulator. This regulator is easy to use and integrates a 42V N-channel MOSFET switch capable of delivering up to 3A of load current. It features excellent line and load regulation with high efficiency (>90%). Voltage-mode control provides a short minimum on-time, enabling the widest ratio between input and output voltages. Internal loop compensation eliminates the tedious task of calculating loop compensation components. The regulator is available in both fixed 5V output and adjustable output voltage options. The 500kHz switching frequency allows the use of small external components and achieves good transient response. An adjustable soft-start feature is available by selecting a single external capacitor. In addition, the switching frequency can be adjusted over the range of 200kHz to 1MHz using a single external resistor. The LM22673 also incorporates thermal shutdown and current limiting functions to protect the device against accidental overload conditions.
