Introduction
The TCAN33x series devices are compatible with the ISO 11898 high-speed CAN physical layer standard. The TCAN330, TCAN332, TCAN334, and TCAN337 support data rates up to 1 Mbps. An updated version of ISO 11898-2 for the TCAN330G, TCAN332G, TCAN334G, and TCAN337G devices is pending publication (including CAN FD and additional timing parameters defining loop delay benchmarks). These devices feature numerous protection characteristics, including driver and receiver dominant timeout (DTO), to ensure CAN network stability. The series also integrates 12 kV IEC 61000-4-2 ESD contact discharge protection, ensuring system-level robustness without the need for additional components. These transceivers operate from a single 3.3 V supply, enabling direct connection to 3.3 V CAN controllers/MCUs. In addition, these devices are fully compatible with 5 V CAN transceivers on the same bus. Matched dominant and recessive common-mode levels deliver excellent EMC performance. The ultra-low-power shutdown and standby modes make these devices highly attractive for battery-powered applications. The series is offered in a standard 8-pin SOIC package for easy drop-in replacement and a compact SOT-23 package for space-constrained applications, combining outstanding functionality with reliability.
