Introduction
The AMC1204-Q1 is a 1-bit digital output, isolated delta-sigma (ΔΣ) modulator with a clock frequency of up to 20MHz. Digital isolation of the modulator output is provided by a silicon dioxide (SiO₂) barrier with extremely high immunity to magnetic interference. This isolation barrier provides basic galvanic isolation of up to 4250V in accordance with UL1577, IEC60747-5-2, and CSA standards or specifications. The AMC1204-Q1 provides a single-chip solution for small-signal measurement across a shunt resistor over the full isolation barrier. These types of resistors are commonly used to sense current in motor control inverters, eco-friendly energy generation systems, and other industrial applications. The AMC1204-Q1 differential input can be easily connected to a shunt resistor or other low-level signal sources. An internal reference eliminates the need for external components. When used with an appropriate external digital filter, 14 effective number of bits (ENOB) can be achieved at a data rate of 78kSPS. The modulator operates from a 5V analog supply (AVDD), while the isolated digital interface can be powered from a 3V, 3.3V, or 5V supply (DVDD). The AMC1204-Q1 is available in a small outline (SO)-16 (DW) package and is rated for a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
