Introduction
The SNx5HVD308xE are half-duplex transceivers specifically designed for RS-485 data bus networks. These devices are powered by a 5V supply and fully comply with the TIA/EIA-485A standard. By controlling the transition time, these devices are suitable for transmitting data over long twisted-pair cables. The SN65HVD3082E and SN75HVD3082E are optimized to support signal transmission rates of up to 200 kbps. The SN65HVD3085E is suitable for data transmission of up to 1 Mbps, while the SN65HVD3088E is suitable for applications requiring signal transmission rates of up to 20 Mbps. These devices are designed to operate with very low supply current (typically 0.3 mA, excluding the load). In the non-operating shutdown mode, the supply current can drop to a few nanoamperes, making these devices ideal for power-sensitive applications. These devices have a wide common-mode range and a high level of ESD protection, making them suitable for demanding applications such as meter networks, electrical inverters, status and command signals on telecommunications racks, wired chassis interconnections, and industrial automation networks where noise immunity is critical. These devices conform to the industry-standard dimensions of the SN75176 device. The power-on reset circuit holds the outputs in a high-impedance state until the supply voltage is stable. The thermal shutdown feature protects the device from damage due to system faults. The SN75HVD3082E features an operating temperature range of 0°C to 70°C, while the SN65HVD308xE features an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The D package version of the SN65HVD3082E features an operating temperature range of -40°C to 105°C.
