Introduction
The TPS25940 eFuse power switch is a compact, feature-rich power management device with a comprehensive suite of protection features, including a low-power DevSleep mode that supports compatibility with the SATA device sleep standard. The wide operating range enables control of many commonly used DC bus voltages. Integrated back-to-back FETs provide bidirectional current control, making the device well suited for systems with load-side holdup energy that must not flow back to a faulted power bus.
Load, power supply, and device protection are provided through numerous programmable features, including overcurrent, dVo/dt slew rate, and overvoltage/undervoltage thresholds. For system status monitoring and downstream load control, the device provides PGOOD, FLT, and precision current monitor outputs. Precision programmable undervoltage/overvoltage thresholds and a low-IQ DevSleep mode simplify SSD power management design.
The TPS25940 monitors V(IN) and V(OUT) to provide true reverse blocking when V(IN) < (V(OUT) - 10mV). This feature supports fast switchover to a boost holdup element in systems where the backup voltage exceeds the bus voltage.
