Introduction
The LMP8601, LMP8602, LMP8603 (LMP860x) and LMP8601-Q1, LMP8602-Q1, LMP8603-Q1 (LMP860x-Q1) devices are all precision current-sensing amplifiers (also known as shunt monitors) with fixed gains. When powered by a single 5V or 3.3V supply, the input common-mode voltage ranges are -22V to +60V and –4V to +27V respectively. The LMP860x and LMP860x-Q1 are ideal components for both unidirectional and bidirectional current-sensing applications. The precision gains of these devices are 20x (LPM8601 and LPM8601-Q1), 50x (LPM8602 and LPM8602-Q1), and 100x (LPM8603 and LPM8603-Q1) respectively, which are sufficient to drive an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to its full-scale value for most target applications. The fixed gain is implemented in two separate stages, including a preamplifier with a gain of 10x and an output-stage buffer amplifier with a gain of 2x (LMP8601 and LMP8601-Q1), 5x (LMP8602 and LMP8602-Q1), or 10x (LMP8603 and LMP8603-Q1). The path connecting the two stages is brought out through two pins, allowing the option to use an additional filter network or modify the gain. The offset input pin allows these devices to perform unidirectional or bidirectional single-supply voltage current sensing. The LMP860x-Q1 devices are manufactured using an enhanced process and support, suitable for the automotive market and compliant with the AEC-Q100 standard.
