Introduction
The TPS7A16 series ultra-low quiescent current, low-dropout (LDO) regulators offer the advantages of ultra-low quiescent current, high input voltage, and compact, high thermal-dissipation packages. The TPS7A16 series devices are designed for continuous or discontinuous (standby power) battery-powered applications, where ultra-low quiescent current is critical for extending system battery life. The TPS7A16 series features an enable pin (EN) compatible with standard CMOS logic and an integrated open-drain, active-high power-good output (PG) with user-programmable delay. These pins are dedicated to MCU-based, battery-powered applications requiring power rail sequencing. In addition, the TPS7A16 devices are well suited for generating low-voltage supplies from multi-cell battery solutions — ranging from multi-cell power tool packs to automotive applications. The device not only provides a well-regulated voltage rail, but also withstands voltage transients and maintains regulation during transient events. These features enable simpler and more cost-effective surge protection circuitry.
