Introduction
The DRV2605 device is designed to provide highly flexible ERM and LRA actuator haptics through a shared I²C-compatible bus. This control eliminates the need for the host processor to generate pulse-width modulation (PWM) drive signals, saving costly timer interrupts and hardware pins. The DRV2605 device features a rich integrated library that offers more than 100 licensed effects from ERM and LRA Immersion, eliminating the need to design haptic waveforms. The DRV2605 device provides a licensed version of the Immersion TouchSense 2200 software, which includes the 2200 effects library and the 2200 audio-to-haptics function. Additionally, the host processor can use the real-time playback mode to bypass the library playback engine and directly play waveforms from the host via I²C. The DRV2605 device also includes an intelligent loop architecture that enables easy implementation of LRA automatic resonance drive and ERM drive with optimized feedback. This feedback provides automatic overdrive and braking, resulting in a simplified input waveform diagram and enabling reliable motor control and stable motor performance. The audio-to-haptics mode automatically converts audio input signals into actual haptic effects. The DRV2605 device features a triple-modulated output stage, enabling higher efficiency than linear-based output drivers. The DRV2605 device comes in a 9-ball WCSP package, has a small number of components, and offers flexible operation, making it an ideal choice for touch-enabled portable vibration and haptic applications.
