Introduction
The ADS114S06 and ADS114S08 are high-precision 16-bit Δ-Σ ADCs that combine low-power operation with multiple integrated features to reduce system cost and component count in small-signal sensor measurement applications. Both ADCs feature a configurable digital filter that provides low-latency conversion results and 50Hz or 60Hz noise rejection in noisy industrial environments. The PGA offers low-noise performance with selectable gains from 1 to 128, which is essential for amplifying low-amplitude signals in resistive bridge or thermocouple applications. Both devices also integrate a low-drift 2.5V voltage reference to minimize PCB area. Two programmable IDACs are included to provide accurate RTD biasing. The input multiplexer supports 12 inputs for the ADS114S08 and 6 inputs for the ADS114S06. These inputs can be connected to the ADC in any combination, enhancing design flexibility. Both devices also include sensor burn-out detection, thermocouple voltage biasing, system monitoring, and four general-purpose I/Os. Both devices are available in an ultra-thin VQFN-32 or TQFP-32 package.
