Introduction
The UCC2863x is suitable for high-power primary-side regulated flyback converters. This device can operate in both CCM and DCM modes, making it suitable for applications with a wide power range. The peak power mode enables the transient peak power to reach 200% of the nominal rating while only increasing the peak current by 25%, maximizing the transformer utilization. The transformer bias winding is used to sense the output voltage for regulation and for low-loss input voltage sensing. Advanced sampling techniques are employed to support CCM operation and achieve excellent output voltage regulation performance in a no-opto-coupler design for power ranges of 100W and above. A high-voltage current source enables fast and efficient startup. Advanced light-load modes are implemented to reduce the power consumption of the controller and the system under no-load and light-load conditions. These modes support potential system designs to meet the requirement of 30mW no-load power consumption for power supply designs with a nominal power of up to 30W and a peak power of 60W. By design, this device is easy to use and integrates multiple features to enable various designs. The design includes a large number of protection features to simplify the system design.
