Introduction
The STMPS2242/2252/2262/2272 power distribution switches are designed for applications that may encounter large capacitive loads and short circuits. These devices integrate a 100 mΩ MOSFET high-side power switch, making them suitable for power distribution systems requiring multiple power switches in a single package.
Each switch is controlled by an independent logic enable input. When the output load exceeds the current limit threshold or a short circuit is present, the devices limit the output current to a safe level by switching to constant current mode and pull the overcurrent (OCx) logic output low. When a sustained heavy load or short circuit increases power dissipation in the switch, causing the junction temperature to rise, the thermal protection circuit shuts down the switch to prevent damage. Recovery after thermal shutdown is automatic once the device cools to a sufficiently low temperature. Internal circuitry ensures the switch remains off until a valid input voltage is present.
