Introduction
The TPS6104x is a high-frequency boost converter specifically designed for small and medium-sized LCD bias power supplies and white LED backlight power supplies. This device is suitable for generating an output voltage of up to 28V using two nickel-metal hydride (NiMH)/nickel-cadmium (NiCd) batteries or a single lithium-ion battery. It can also be used to achieve power conversion from a standard 3.3V or 5V to 12V. Its operating switching frequency is up to 1MHz, which supports the use of external small components. It comes in a thin WSON package, resulting in a small overall solution size. The TPS61040 device features an internal 400mA switch current limit, while the TPS61041 device has a 250mA switch current limit, which can provide lower output voltage ripple and support the use of smaller-sized inductors for low-power applications. The low quiescent current (typically 28μA) combined with an optimized control scheme enables the device to maintain very high operating efficiency across the entire load current range.
