Introduction
The TUSB320 device implements the Configuration Channel (CC) logic required by the Type-C ecosystem on a USB Type-C port. The TUSB320 uses the CC pins to determine port connection status and cable orientation, as well as for role detection and Type-C current mode control. Configurable as a Downstream Facing Port (DFP), Upstream Facing Port (UFP), or Dual Role Port (DRP), the TUSB320 is an ideal solution for any application. In accordance with the Type-C specification, the TUSB320 alternately configures itself as either DFP or UFP. The CC logic block determines USB port connection timing, cable orientation, and detected role by monitoring the pull-up or pull-down resistors on the CC1 and CC2 pins. The CC logic determines whether the Type-C current mode is Default, Medium, or High based on the detected role. The logic implements VBUS detection to determine whether a successful connection has been established in UFP and DRP modes. The device operates over a wide supply voltage range with low power consumption. The TUSB320 is rated for both industrial and commercial temperature ranges.
