Introduction
The SN65LBC176 differential bus transceiver is a monolithic integrated circuit designed for bidirectional data communication on multi-point bus transmission lines. It is designed for balanced transmission lines and complies with the ANSI standard RS - 485 and ISO8482:1987(E). The SN65LBC176 combines a three - state differential line driver and a differential input line receiver, both of which are powered by a single 5V supply. The driver and the receiver have active - high and active - low enable terminals respectively, which can be externally connected together for direction control. The differential output of the driver and the differential input of the receiver are internally connected to form a differential input/output (I/O) bus port, which provides minimum loading to the bus when the driver is disabled or VCC = 0. This port has a wide positive and negative common - mode voltage range, making the device suitable for shared - wire applications. Ultra - low standby supply current of the device can be achieved by disabling the driver and the receiver.
