Introduction
The ADS8910B, ADS8912B, and ADS8914B (ADS891xB) belong to a series of high-speed, single-channel, high-precision, 18-bit successive approximation register (SAR)-based analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) that are pin-to-pin compatible. They feature an integrated reference buffer and an integrated low-dropout regulator (LDO). This device series includes two resolution models: the ADS890xB (20-bit) and the ADS892xB (16-bit). With TI's enhanced SPI feature, the ADS891xB can improve analog performance while maintaining high-resolution data transmission. The enhanced SPI enables the ADS89xxB to achieve high throughput at lower clock speeds, simplifying board layout and reducing system cost. The enhanced SPI also simplifies data timing, making the device an ideal choice for applications such as FPGAs and DSPs. The ADS89xxB is compatible with the standard SPI interface. The ADS891xB has an internal data parity check function that can be appended to the ADC data output. ADC data verification by the host using the parity bit enhances system reliability.
