TPS2474x is an integrated ORing and hot-swap controller for 2.5V to 18V systems. The controller is accurate and has programmable protection settings, which is helpful for high-power, high-availability systems with high design fault isolation requirements.

The controller also has programmable current limit, fast shutdown, and fault timer functions to protect the load and power supply during faults such as thermal short circuits. The fast shutdown threshold and response time can be adjusted to ensure a fast response to actual faults while avoiding false tripping. The device has programmable SOA (Safe Operating Area) protection and inrush timer to protect the metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) under all operating conditions. After the TPS2474x asserts the power-good status flag, it runs the fault timer during an overcurrent event but does not limit the current. When the fault timer expires, the controller shuts down. The controller has two independent timers (inrush/fault) that allow users to customize the protection features according to system requirements. Users can use the ORing function of the TPS2474x to program the reverse voltage threshold and response time to simplify the design of redundant power supply systems.
