Introduction
The DS90UB949A-Q1 is an HDMI-to-FPD-Link III bridge device that, when used with the FPD-Link III DS90UB940-Q1/DS90UB948-Q1 deserializers, delivers single- or dual-channel high-speed serial streams over cost-effective 50Ω single-ended coaxial cables or 100Ω differential shielded twisted pair (STP) and shielded twisted quad (STQ) cables. The device serializes HDMI v1.4b input to support video resolutions up to 2880×1080 at 60Hz with 24-bit color depth. The FPD-Link III interface supports video and audio data transmission along with full-duplex control (including I2C and SPI communication) over the same differential link. Consolidating video data and control over two differential pairs helps reduce interconnect size and weight in the application and simplifies system design. EMI is minimized through the use of low-voltage differential signaling, data scrambling, and spread spectrum. In backward-compatible mode, when the DS90UB949A-Q1 is used with DS90Ux92x-Q1 deserializers, resolutions up to 1920×720 with 24-bit color depth are supported over a single differential link. The DS90UB949A-Q1 supports multi-channel audio reception via an external I2S interface. The device also features an optional auxiliary audio interface.
