The TPS25910 device provides highly integrated hot-swap power management and excellent protection in applications with load supply voltages of 3V and 20V. This device is used in systems that must protect the voltage bus against harmful continuous and transient overloads. During startup or hot insertion into the system bus, the TPS25910 limits the inrush current by controlling the output voltage, VOUT. A capacitor between the GATE pin and the GND pin can be used to adjust the slew rate of VOUT. Built-in SOA protection ensures that the internal MOSFET operates within a safe operating area (SOA) under the most severe operating conditions. In addition, a resistor between the ILIM pin and the GND pin can be used to adjust the current limit threshold independent of the power limit. The TPS25910 provides a fault indicator output in case of an overheat fault. The TPS25910 is available in a 16-pin quad flat no-lead (QFN) package.
