Introduction
The MAX77720 dual-output DC-DC converter generates two independently regulated positive and negative supply voltages. The positive output delivers up to 4W of power at the output, while the negative output delivers up to 4.8W. The device is well-suited for powering time-of-flight imaging sensors and OLED displays in smart IoT devices. The MAX77720 produces an adjustable negative output as low as -24V and a positive output voltage up to +20V. The negative output operates at a fixed 1.5MHz frequency, while the positive output operates at a fixed 1MHz frequency, simplifying noise filtering in sensitive applications and reducing external component size. When the nERR pin is connected to the output pin of an external device, it can be used to disable the regulator to indicate an external fault. This fault can be cleared via the host processor's I2C interface to re-enable the regulator. In the fault-on state, the active discharge function can be selectively enabled or disabled. A bidirectional I2C serial interface allows device configuration and status monitoring. Numerous factory-programmable options enable the device to be customized for a wide range of applications, accelerating time to market.
