Introduction
The ADS7947, ADS7948, and ADS7949 are 12/10/8-bit, 2MSPS analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with pin compatibility, respectively. These devices operate at a 2MSPS sampling rate and a standard 16-clock data frame. Additionally, the ADS7947 (12-bit), ADS7948 (10-bit), and ADS7949 (8-bit) can operate at 2.1MSPS, 2.57MSPS, and 3MSPS, respectively, and use short data frames optimized for the number of clock cycles, which are sufficient to complete the conversion without any impact on performance. These devices feature excellent DC accuracy and dynamic performance. This family of devices is pin-compatible and includes a dual-channel input multiplexer and a low-power successive approximation register (SAR) ADC. The ADS7947, ADS7948, and ADS7949 support a wide analog power supply voltage range, thus supporting a full-scale input range of up to 5V. With a simple SPI digital interface and a digital power supply that can operate at voltages as low as 1.65V, they can be easily connected to various digital controllers. When operating at low speeds, the auto-power-down function can be enabled to significantly reduce power consumption. The ADS7947, ADS7948, and ADS7949 come in a tiny 3mm × 3mm WQFN package and are rated for an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, making them suitable for a variety of data acquisition applications where high performance, low power consumption, and small size are the primary considerations.
