Introduction
The SN74HC/HCT573 is an 8-bit D-type latch with 3-state outputs. The device features a latch enable (LE) and an output enable (OE). When LE is high, data at the inputs enters the latches. In this condition, the latches are transparent — each latch output changes whenever its corresponding D input changes. When LE is low, the latches store the input information that was present one setup time before the falling edge of LE. A high level on OE forces the outputs into a high-impedance state. Operation of the OE input does not affect the state of the latches. The inputs are clamped with diodes to allow the use of current-limiting resistors to interface inputs to voltages exceeding VCC.
