The TPS715 low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator is a low quiescent current device offering a wide input voltage range and low-power operation in a miniaturized package. As such, the TPS715 is designed for battery-powered applications and can also serve as a power management companion for low-power microcontrollers.

The TPS715 is available in both fixed and adjustable versions. For greater flexibility or higher output voltages, the adjustable version uses feedback resistors to set the output voltage between 1.205 V and 15 V. The TPS715 LDO typically supports a low dropout voltage of 415 mV at a 50 mA load current. The low quiescent current (typically 3.2 μA) remains stable across the entire output load current range (0 mA to 50 mA). The TPS715 also features an internal soft-start function to reduce inrush current. Built-in overcurrent limiting helps protect the regulator during load short circuits or fault conditions.
