Introduction
The TPS22961 is a small, ultra-low RON, single-channel load switch with controlled turn-on. The device contains an N-channel MOSFET that operates over an input voltage range of 0.8 V to 3.5 V and supports up to 6 A of continuous current. The combination of ultra-low RON and high current handling capability makes this device well suited for driving processor power rails with very tight voltage drop tolerances. The fast rise time allows the power rail to turn on quickly when the device is enabled, reducing power distribution response time. The switch can be controlled independently via the ON pin, which interfaces directly with low-voltage control signals generated by a microcontroller or low-voltage discrete logic. By integrating a 260 Ω pull-down resistor for fast output discharge (QOD) when the switch is off, this device further reduces overall solution size. The TPS22961 is offered in a small, space-saving 3 mm × 3 mm 8-terminal small outline no-lead (SON) package (DNY) with an integrated thermal pad for high power dissipation. The device is rated for operation from -40°C to 85°C in a naturally ventilated environment.
