Attaching NeoPixel strips to costumes can be tricky, as the flexible PCB tends to break when bent too much. So how do you add tiny spots of color? Use these dot-strand NeoPixels! They're very compact and easy to embed in any structure, costume, or wearable. Each dot is encased in a small plastic weatherproof snap, which we don't recommend submerging underwater, but they can handle temporary outdoor use. Best of all, the back of each snap has small molded plastic hooks so you can sew them in place. Each strand contains 20 dots, each with a NeoPixel inside, connected by cable. The dot spacing is 4 inches, and we also offer a 2-inch spacing version. NeoPixels are 5050-size LEDs with an embedded microcontroller. You can set the brightness of each R/G/B/W channel individually. Each LED acts like a shift register — reading incoming data from the input pin and shifting the previous data out through the output pin. By sending a long stream of data, you can control an unlimited number of LEDs, simply by adding more at the end or disconnecting any you don't need. The PWM function is built into each LED chip, so once brightness is set, you can stop communicating with the strand and it will continue to PWM all the LEDs for you. These NeoPixel strands feature 20 digitally addressable pixel LEDs per meter.
