Introduction
The TPS54428 is an adaptive on-time D-CAP2™ mode synchronous buck converter. It helps system designers complete power bus regulator sets for various end equipment through a cost-effective, low component count, low standby current solution. The main control loop employs D-CAP2™ mode control, achieving fast transient response without external compensation components. Adaptive on-time control supports seamless transition between PWM mode under heavy load conditions and Eco-mode™ operation under light load. Eco-mode™ enables the TPS54428 to maintain high efficiency under light load conditions. A proprietary circuit allows the device to use low ESR output capacitors such as polymer organic semiconductor capacitors (POSCAP) or polymer capacitors (SP-CAP), as well as ultra-low ESR ceramic capacitors. The device operates with an input voltage between 4.5V and 18V VIN, with an output voltage adjustable from 0.76V to 7.0V. The device also features an adjustable soft-start time. Available in an 8-pin DDA package and a 10-pin DRC package, designed to operate over an ambient temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
