Introduction
The LM5006 buck switching regulator contains all the features necessary to implement a low-cost, high-efficiency buck bias regulator. This high-voltage regulator integrates an 80V N-channel MOSFET switch and a startup regulator. The device is easy to implement and comes in an MSOP-10 package. The regulator's control scheme is based on an on-time that is inversely proportional to the input voltage (V_IN). This feature keeps the switching frequency relatively constant over line and load variations. The control scheme requires no loop compensation, enabling fast transient response. A forced off-time inversely proportional to the output voltage (V_OUT) provides the controller with intelligent current limiting. This current limiting ensures short-circuit control while offering minimal foldback. Additional features include: thermal shutdown, VCC undervoltage lockout, maximum duty cycle limiter, pre-charge switch, programmable undervoltage detector with status flag output, and gate driver output for synchronous rectifiers.
