Introduction
The TPS6224x-Q1 series are highly efficient synchronous DC/DC step-down converters offering fixed output voltages and up to 300mA of output current. These devices provide low power consumption advantages for battery-powered/always-on automotive applications such as remote keyless entry (RKE) or passive entry passive start (PEPS) key fobs and base stations. With an input voltage range of 2V to 6V, these devices support applications powered by lithium manganese dioxide (Li-MnO2) coin cell batteries, Li-Ion batteries, two-cell (2S) and three-cell (3S) alkaline batteries, as well as 3.3V and 5V input voltage rails. The TPS6224x-Q1 operates at a fixed switching frequency of 2.25MHz under heavy load current conditions and enters power save mode at light load currents to maintain high efficiency and low power consumption across the entire load current range. This power save mode is optimized for low output voltage ripple. In shutdown mode, current consumption is reduced to below 1μA. The TPS6224x-Q1 allows the use of small inductors and capacitors for a compact solution size, and is available in a 5-pin TSOT23 package.
