Introduction
The TPS61099x is a synchronous boost converter with an ultra-low 1µA quiescent current. The device is designed for products powered by alkaline batteries, NiMH rechargeable batteries, lithium-manganese batteries, or lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, enabling high efficiency under light-load conditions — critical for extending battery life. The TPS61099x boost converter uses a hysteretic control topology to achieve maximum efficiency with minimal quiescent current. The device draws only 1µA quiescent current under light-load conditions and achieves up to 75% efficiency at a 10µA load (fixed output voltage version). In addition, the device supports up to 300mA output current during 3.3V-to-5V conversion, achieving up to 93% efficiency at a 200mA load. The TPS61099x also provides buck mode and pass-through operation for different applications. In buck mode, the output voltage is regulated to the target value even when the input voltage exceeds the output voltage. In pass-through mode, the output voltage follows the input voltage. When VIN > VOUT + 0.5V, the TPS61099x exits buck mode and transitions to pass-through mode. When disabled, the TPS61099x disconnects the load from the input supply, enabling true shutdown to reduce current consumption. The TPS61099x is available in adjustable output voltage and fixed output voltage versions. The device is offered in a 6-ball 1.23mm × 0.88mm WCSP package and a 6-ball 2mm × 2mm WSON package.
