Opis
The TPS6128xD/E devices provide a power solution for products powered by lithium-ion, nickel-rich, silicon-anode, or lithium iron phosphate batteries. The voltage range is optimized for single-cell portable applications such as smartphones or tablets.
The TPS6128xD/E can be used as a high-power pre-regulator to extend battery runtime and overcome the input current and voltage limitations of the powered system.
In shutdown, the TPS6128xD/E operates in true pass-through mode with a quiescent current of only 3μA, maximizing battery life.
During operation, when the battery is in a good state of charge, a low-ohmic, highly efficient integrated pass-through path connects the battery to the powered system.
If the battery enters a lower state of charge and its voltage falls below the required minimum system voltage, the device seamlessly transitions to boost mode to utilize the full battery capacity.
The TPS6128xD/E devices support pulsed load currents exceeding 4A, even from deeply discharged batteries. In this operating mode, the TPS6128xD/E makes full use of the entire battery capacity: it overcomes the excessively high battery cutoff voltage of powered components with a minimum high-level input voltage; new battery chemistries can be fully discharged; and the device buffers high-current pulses that would otherwise force a system shutdown, enabling seamless transition between boost and bypass modes.
This has a significant impact on battery on-time, delivering longer usage time and a better user experience for the same battery capacity, or reducing battery cost for the same usage time.
The TPS6128xD/E is available in a 16-pin Chip-Scale Package (CSP), minimizing the number of external components and enabling a very compact solution size (< 20mm²) with support for small inductors and input capacitors.
The TPS6128xD/E operates in synchronous boost mode at 2.3MHz and enters Power Save Mode (PFM) at light load currents to maintain high efficiency across the full load current range.
