Introduction
The TPS6214x is an easy-to-use synchronous step-down DC/DC converter optimized for high-power density applications. The device features a typical switching frequency of up to 2.5 MHz, allowing the use of small inductors. It utilizes DCS-Control topology technology to provide fast transient response. This family of devices has a wide operating input voltage range of 3 V to 17 V, making it suitable for systems powered by lithium-ion or other batteries and 12-V intermediate power rails. Its output voltage ranges from 0.9 V to 6 V and supports a continuous output current of up to 2 A (using 100% duty cycle mode). The output voltage startup ramp is controlled by the soft-start pin, enabling the device to operate as an independent power supply or in a tracking configuration. Power sequencing is also possible by configuring the enable (EN) and open-drain power good (PG) pins. In power-saving mode, the device can generate a quiescent current of approximately 17 μA depending on the input voltage (VIN). It automatically and seamlessly enters the energy-saving mode at light loads while maintaining high efficiency across the entire load range. The device is in the shutdown state in the shutdown mode, with a current consumption of less than 2 μA during this period. This device is available in adjustable and fixed output voltage models and comes in a 3 mm × 3 mm (RGT) 16-pin very thin quad flat no-lead (VQFN) package.
