Introduction
The bq2477x is a highly efficient synchronous NVDC-1 battery charge controller with a reduced component count, designed for space-constrained multi-chemistry battery charging solutions. Power path management regulates the system voltage to the battery voltage without dropping below the minimum system voltage (programmable). This feature allows the system to remain operational even when the battery is fully discharged or removed. With power path management, the battery can supplement current to the system, preventing the input power source from being overloaded. The bq2477x provides drivers and power path management for N-channel ACFET and reverse blocking FETs. The device also provides drivers to control external P-channel battery FETs for NVDC operation. It is also capable of driving both high-side and low-side MOSFETs of a switching regulator. The bq2477x monitors adapter current (IADP), battery charge/discharge current (IBAT), and system power (PMON). The device also features a flexibly programmable PROCHOT output that can directly instruct the CPU to throttle its operating speed as needed.
