Introduction
The THS3491 current feedback amplifier (CFA) delivers superior performance for applications requiring minimal distortion at high output power levels from DC to greater than 100MHz (with a 100Ω load). Although this current feedback design is rated for a gain of 5V/V, it maintains nearly constant bandwidth and distortion across a wide gain range.
An 8000V/μs slew rate enables 10VPP output into demanding loads at low distortion and 100MHz. The 900MHz small-signal bandwidth delivers less than 1.5% overshoot with a 10V step and rise/fall times of less than 1.3ns. A peak output current drive of greater than 500mA enables fast signal driving of high-capacitive loads.
By using the VQFN-16 (RGT) package, new designs benefit from the lowest distortion, while the 8-pin HSOIC (DDA) package with PowerPAD provides a drop-in upgrade path for existing THS3091 or THS3095 designs. Compared to the conventional THS3091 or THS3095 options, the THS3491's lower output headroom delivers a larger output swing from the same ±15V supply.
