Introduction
The OPA838 decompensated voltage-feedback op amp delivers up to 300MHz gain-bandwidth product at 1.8nV/√Hz input voltage noise, requiring only 0.95mA quiescent supply current. This combination provides an extremely power-efficient solution for photodiode transimpedance designs and high-voltage-gain stages that demand minimum input voltage noise in signal receiver applications. Operating at the minimum recommended non-inverting gain of 6V/V yields a 90MHz, –3dB bandwidth. The ultra-low input noise and offset voltage make the OPA838 particularly well suited for high-gain applications. Even at a DC-coupled gain of 1000V/V, a 300kHz signal bandwidth is achievable with a maximum output offset voltage of ±125mV. The single-channel OPA838 is available in 6-pin SOT-23 and SC70 packages (with power shutdown feature) and a 5-pin SC70 package. 3V single-supply photodiode amplifier under 3mW, with total input-referred current noise below 1.1pA/√Hz and overall SSBW of 1MHz at 100kΩ gain
