Introduction
The ACI Platinum Bundle Series features a 1.5-inch square copper plate with the sensor packaged on the back of the plate to improve thermal conductivity between the pipe and the sensor. Each sensor has etched Teflon color-coded leads for differentiating sensor types. When used with a three-wire temperature transmitter or sensor configuration on a building management system or PLC, the three-wire "-3W" option should be selected. The third wire compensates for any external lead resistance that may affect the sensor output signal. ACI recommends using 18 AWG leads with platinum RTD sensors to reduce external lead resistance. Sensors in this series are manufactured using ACI's proven dual-encapsulation process with high-quality thermally conductive epoxy, eliminating moisture effects on the sensor and improving thermal response time. Bundle sensors are suitable for monitoring pipes ranging from 1-1/4 inches to 10 inches in diameter. ACI recommends cleaning the pipe before applying thermal grease and mounting the sensor, followed by insulating the sensor to minimize ambient air influence. The reverse side of the product datasheet notes that a weatherproof enclosure and NIST certificate are available as options.
