Terminal covers can be mounted on Z, A, X, and DZ switches. Secured with mounting screws, the terminal covers protect the housing and terminal wiring from dust and vibration, prevent finger contact, and thereby guard against terminal short circuits, ground faults, broken or improperly connected wires, and electric shock hazards. Terminal covers made of phenolic resin feature five or six thin-wall sections that can be torn away to create openings for lead cables at desired locations. Terminal covers cannot be used when separately sold actuators are in use. Separators may be used when it is difficult to provide sufficient insulation clearance, or when switches are used in proximity to metal components or copper wiring.
