Introduction
The TPS6215x series are easy-to-use synchronous step-down DC-DC converters optimized for high power density applications. These devices feature a typical switching frequency of up to 2.5MHz, allowing the use of small inductors, and leverage DCS-Control topology to deliver fast transient response with high output voltage accuracy. The series offers a wide operating input voltage range of 3V to 17V, making it well suited for systems powered by lithium-ion or other batteries and 12V intermediate power rails. The output voltage ranges from 0.9V to 6V, supporting up to 1A continuous output current (in 100% duty cycle mode). A soft-start pin controls the output voltage startup ramp, allowing the device to operate as a standalone power supply or in a tracking configuration. Power sequencing can also be implemented by configuring the enable (EN) pin and the open-drain power-good (PG) pin. In power-save mode, the device draws approximately 17μA quiescent current from VIN. The device automatically and seamlessly enters power-save mode at light loads, maintaining high efficiency across the full load range. In shutdown mode, the device is turned off with a supply current of less than 2μA. The device is available in adjustable and fixed output voltage versions, offered in a 3mm×3mm 16-pin VQFN package (RGT).
