Introduction
The SV series transient voltage suppressors are epoxy-coated square or rectangular leaded varistors with an AC operating voltage range of 60V to 680V. These varistors are available in two versions.
The standard version of the square varistor offers extremely high current and energy handling capability along with low clamping voltage, providing a higher level of protection against transients in telecommunications and AC power grids. Compared to standard disc varistors, the SV series varistors achieve electrically equivalent values in a smaller nominal size.
In the custom version of the SV series, customers can design (independently or with our assistance) an optimized varistor with minimum dimensions to meet specific application requirements. Customers can select from the following parameters: non-standard DC/AC operating voltage, leakage current, clamping voltage, maximum surge current, energy absorption level, maximum dissipation power, and shape (dimensions are a function of the required electrical parameters, and vice versa).
