Introduction
The NTE74HC259 is an 8-bit addressable latch in a 16-pin DIP package, featuring the low power consumption characteristic of CMOS circuits with speed comparable to low-power Schottky circuits. The latch offers three operating modes and one reset mode. When both the latch enable (LE) and master reset (MR) inputs are low (8-line demultiplexer mode), the addressed latch output follows the data input while all other outputs are forced low. When both MR and LE are high (storage mode), all outputs are isolated from the data input — meaning all latches retain the last data present before LE transitioned from low to high. When LE is low and MR is high (addressable latch mode), the addressed latch output follows the data input while all other latches are unaffected. When LE is high and MR is low, reset mode is entered with all outputs driven low.
