Introduction
CD4052B is a 2-channel, 4-to-1 analog multiplexer/demultiplexer with a common enable input control. Each multiplexer has four independent inputs/outputs (Y₀ to Y₃), a common input/output (Z), and selection inputs (A). The common enable input control consists of two selection inputs A₀ and A₁, and an active-low enable input E(overline).
Each channel contains four bidirectional analog switches, with one side of each switch connected to an independent input/output (Y₀ to Y₃) and the other side connected to the common input/output (Z). When E(overline) is low, one of the four switches is selected (low-resistance ON state) by A₀ and A₁. When E(overline) is high, all switches are in the high-resistance OFF state, regardless of the states of A₀ and A₁.
VDD and VSS are the supply voltages for the digital control inputs (A₀, A₁, and E). The (VDD − VSS) range is 3~18V, and the analog inputs/outputs (Y₀~Y₃ and Z) can swing between a maximum of VDD and a minimum of VEE. For use as a digital multiplexer, VEE and VSS are connected together (typically to ground).
