Introduction
MAX3485EESA is a low-power, half-duplex transceiver compliant with RS-485 and RS-422 specifications. This IC contains one driver and one receiver. The driver slew rate is not limited, supporting data rates up to 10 Mbps. With no load connected to the driver outputs, or with the driver fully loaded but disabled, the supply current consumption of these transceivers ranges from 120μA to 500μA. All devices operate from a single 3.3V supply. The driver features short-circuit current limiting and is protected by a thermal shutdown circuit that prevents excessive power dissipation by placing the driver outputs in a high-impedance state. The receiver inputs provide a fail-safe feature that guarantees a logic-high output when the inputs are open. The device offers ESD protection exceeding ±8kV (Human Body Model) and ±15kV using the IEC 61000-4-2 Air Discharge method.
