Introduction
The TPS62135 and TPS621351 are highly efficient, easy-to-use synchronous step-down DC-DC converters based on DCS-Control™ topology. The devices feature a wide input voltage range of 3V to 17V, making them ideal for applications powered by multi-cell Li-ion batteries and 12V intermediate power rails. The devices deliver 4A continuous output current. The TPS62135 automatically enters power-save mode at light loads, maintaining high efficiency across the full load range. This makes the devices well-suited for applications requiring networked standby performance, such as ultra-low-power computers. When the MODE pin is set low, the switching frequency automatically adjusts based on the input and output voltages. This technology, called Automatic Efficiency Enhancement (AEE™), maintains high conversion efficiency across the entire operating range. The devices provide 1% output voltage accuracy in PWM mode, enabling power supply designs with high output voltage precision. The typical quiescent current of the device is 18μA. In shutdown mode, the typical device current is 1μA with active output discharge (available on TPS62135 only; output voltage discharge is disabled on TPS621351). The TPS62135 is offered as an adjustable version in a 3mm x 2mm VQFN package.
