Introduction
The TMP116 family (TMP116, TMP116N) includes low-power, high-accuracy temperature sensors with integrated EEPROM. The TMP116 provides 16-bit temperature results with a resolution of 0.0078°C and achieves accuracy up to ±0.2°C without calibration. Compatible with I²C and SMBus interfaces, it features programmable alert functionality and supports up to 4 devices on a single bus. The TMP116 is not only power-efficient but also draws minimal current, maximizing the reduction of self-heating and improving measurement accuracy. The TMP116 operates over a voltage range of 1.9V to 5.5V with a typical current consumption of 3.5μA. The TMP116 operates over a temperature range of -55°C to +125°C, offering higher accuracy than Class A RTDs while drawing less than one-fifth of the typical excitation current of a PT100 RTD. Compared to RTDs, the TMP116 is easier to use — no calibration, external circuitry, matched traces, or Kelvin connections are required. TMP116 devices are fully tested during production, traceable through NIST, and verified using equipment calibrated to ISO/IEC 17025-accredited standards.
